What kind of singers are we looking for?

Singers just like you! We are amateur vocalists, just like you probably are. Very few of us have any ‘vocal training’, other than what the chorus offers. What we share is a basic ability to sing, hear harmonies, and enjoy the music.

What do you have to do to join the chorus?

First of all, visit with us – see if you enjoy the singing as much as we do.

  • On your first visit, we will help you locate the voice part that best suits your range and abilities.

  • On your second visit, we will give you a package that includes a lot information (history, costs involved, etc.), and two of our current songs, along with learning CDs for each. This will give you a better idea of how we learn music, and what the other parts sound like. We find that a lot of guys who don’t think they can harmonize, can do a better job at it than they give themselves credit for.

  • On, or soon after your third visit, we will perform a ‘basic’ vocal audition. This consists of matching notes, sounds and rhythms. We will also determine your ability to sing well known melodies, all by yourself, and see what tendencies are to harmonize against those melodies. If you have any difficulties during this part of the audition, and you are still interested, we will work with you on improving your singing skills. Upon passing the basic audition, we will schedule a singing audition, where you sing one of the basic barbershop songs, in your part, with three other guys.

During the entire process, you find that we seek to help you improve your singing, and therefore the enjoyment you derive from it.

Check out the “Upcoming Events” or the “Calendar” to see our rehearsal schedule, and come visit us! Who knows – you may missing the opportunity of a lifetime!
